Dean Maddalena is President of studioSIX5, a licensed architect, and a member of the American Institute of Architects, NCARB, IIDA and ASID.
Dean has dedicated a large part of his 32-year career to the research and design of senior living environments. Dean has worked in all facets of senior design and for all levels of care throughout the United States. Projects include a renovation/expansion for Ginger Cove in Annapolis, MD; an expansion for The Gatesworth in St. Louis, MO; and new construction for Sagewood at Desert Ridge in Phoenix, AZ, Vivante in Costa Mesa, CA, and The Wingate at Needham in Boston, MA to name a few.
He was a member of the Lifecare Advisory Council and Durkan Design Council, has been a speaker at the American Institute of Architects, the Texas Association of Homes & Services for the Aging Annual Convention, and was a featured speaker at the Environments for Aging national conference in 2016 and 2017, highlighting senior living design trends and processes. Dean also designs flooring and furniture product for leading manufacturers in senior living.
Dean’s design success has been recognized with further awards from the American Institute of Architects, Starnet and most recently, a first place national design award from NAHB +50 for Sagewood and Vivante.
Dean is almost as passionate about cooking as he is about design. He has two dogs and a cat in his personal menagerie.
